BAYOU SECO offers a BOUQUET for any season. This, their 30th year as a band, is a major milestone. Ken Keppeler and Jeanie McLerie - the core of the band - continue to chase down old treasures on the tune trail, while putting together a few new ones as well. Playing as a duo, or joined by long time band members, this group continues to rock, waltz and chotis into the second decade of 2000. Dedicated tune savers, Ken and Jeanie have long standing friendships with all the musician friends they have learned from over the years.

The dance music of northern New Mexico and southern Colorado dates back to Spanish Colonial times of the 17th century. The music and dances have survived in the isolated mountain towns of northern New Mexico.

This is a CD of social dance tunes from the Tohono O'Odham people of southern Arizon. We learned them from Elliott Johnson of the Gu Achi Fiddlers. He lived in Cababi, Arizona.

We play five tunes with Gilles on this wonderful CD. He is a fantastic fiddler and violinist. He also plays with lots of other friends of Apap on this CD. Click on the CD cover to read more about the tunes and the players.
Gilles says: "All the people involved in this CD are and have been close to me for the past twenty years. They have been a source of inspiration and also have been the greatest friends somebody could have. I just wanted to pay tribute to them and thank them from the bottom of my heart."

Adventures on the Tunetravelling Highway
With chugging accordeons and wailing, sailing fiddles, Ken Keppeler and Jeanie McLerie present a vibrant collection of vintage and modern tunes and songs in French, Spanish and English, as learned from old master musicians and friends in the Southwest, USA.
They are joined on some tracks by long time loyal Bayou Seco members Paul and Benny Rangell, Emily Abbink, Scott Mathis and Linda Askew, Michael Combs, and Terry Bluhm.

Ramona Ortiz, wife of Cleofes Ortiz, the fine New Mexico fiddler from Bernal, used to say to us, “I never think I come to such a Bewilderness.’ Ken and Jeanie are happy to be in such a place.
The Bayou Seco band is lead by Ken Keppeler and Jeanie McLerie. Twenty-five members of the family play on this disc along with Ken and Jeanie, who have kept the band going for 20 years, and who now live in Silver City, NM.
